3. The retention rate offers a lot of insight for a potential student about the school. If many people who are accepted, attend, but a lot of people leave, it could be a warning sign that the professors and/or the administration is not very good. The higher the percentage here, the more likely it is to be a good school. People do not usually stay with the program if they do not like the professors and/or the administration.

4. Of course, all potential graduate students want to know the average GPA of those who are being asked to join the program. This will give you a good idea of where you would stand in terms of ability. Now, this is not an exact predictor of how you will do, but it is certainly something to consider if you are extremely above or below average. Many Americans like to have some kind of challenge, but they don’t want to feel like they are far behind everyone else.

5. Finally, you might need to look at the average test scores of individuals admitted or previously admitted to the school. Again, similar to the average GPA, this will give a hint concerning how you would fit in at the university.

It is pretty imperative to check the many different options available when it comes to graduate school.
